Church History
Our Journey in Faith
Establishment and Early Years
“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18
Hebron Christian Assembly, formerly known as Scotland Christian Assembly, the very first Malayalam Pentecostal fellowship in Scotland. Our journey commenced in the humble abode of a faithful co-brother, where we recognized the need for a Malayalam congregation on Sundays after a year of attending traditional churches. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we gathered at a co-brother’s house in 2004, gradually attracting more families to join us in worship. Through divine providence, the Lord led us to the Strathclyde Chaplaincy Centre, where from 2005 to 2013, we gathered for Sunday worship, witnessing His blessings and grace.
Providence and Expansion
In 2012, due to renovation plans, we transitioned to house gatherings until the Lord blessed us with the Credit Union building as our permanent hall in 2013, facilitated by the selfless support of a brother. Under the name Scotland Christian Assembly, with a fervent vision for Scotland, we conducted our inaugural annual convention and first Sunday school anniversary in 2005, celebrating three baptisms, women’s meetings, and cottage meetings then onwards.
Charitable Status and Ministry
As our fellowship grew, the need for official registration as a charitable organisation arose. With prudent legal counsel, we altered our name to Hebron Christian Assembly, receiving charitable status on April 26th, 2012. Our ministry expanded further in 2013 when church elders in Edinburgh sought our spiritual guidance, leading us to extend our services to Edinburgh, earnestly serving in the mission of expanding God’s kingdom.
Miraculous Acquisition and Growth
Over the years, we rented various facilities for baptisms, conventions, and anniversaries, guided by persistent prayers and unwavering faith. By God’s grace and the generous contributions of our members and well-wishers from other churches, we acquired our own church building after ten years of prayer and dedication. This acquisition became a necessity as our congregation welcomed more members, including individuals from diverse parts of the world seeking education and employment opportunities.
Gratitude and Vision
We acknowledge God’s faithfulness and provision throughout our journey, and we express our gratitude to all who have supported and contributed to the growth of Hebron Christian Assembly. As we look to the future, we remain committed to serving God faithfully, spreading His love, and fulfilling His purpose in Scotland and beyond.
